Privacy Policy
A clearer picture of how your information is handled.

About this policy
ReadResults™ is provided by Porkchop Effects, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how ReadResults handles information when you use the app to capture printed text, make that text easier to read or hear, save scans, and manage a ReadResults Pro subscription. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact privacy@readresults.com.
Camera, images, and text recognition
ReadResults requests access to your device's camera so that you can photograph printed text. In release builds, including TestFlight, text recognition is performed on your device using Apple's Vision framework. ReadResults does not send captured images or recognized text to a ReadResults server or to an external artificial-intelligence or cloud OCR service for text recognition. Captured images are processed from local image files on your device. Recognized text is returned to ReadResults for display and, when applicable, local storage in your scan history. Read Aloud uses iOS speech functionality to speak recognized text.
Saved scans and preferences
ReadResults stores app information locally on your device using app storage. This may include recognized scan text; scan dates; titles or names you assign to scans; favorite status; references to saved scan images; daily Free scan counts; starting zoom preferences; speech-rate preferences; onboarding status; and other interface preferences needed for app functionality. When ReadResults saves an image for History, the image is copied into the app's local document storage. ReadResults does not operate a cloud account or ReadResults server for storing or retrieving your scan history.
Copying and sharing
ReadResults allows you to copy recognized text to the system clipboard and to share recognized text or scan images using the sharing features provided by iOS. These actions occur only when you choose to use the relevant Copy or Share feature. Once you share information with another app, service, or person, that information is handled according to the privacy practices of the destination you selected.
ReadResults Pro and purchases
ReadResults uses RevenueCat to manage ReadResults Pro subscription status, purchases, and purchase restoration. ReadResults does not require you to create a ReadResults account to purchase Pro. The current ReadResults implementation does not provide RevenueCat with a custom ReadResults user account identifier. RevenueCat generates an anonymous App User ID for subscription management and processes purchase history and subscription information to validate purchases, determine your ReadResults Pro entitlement, and provide subscription reporting. An anonymous identifier does not mean that no information is processed by RevenueCat. Apple processes App Store payments. ReadResults does not receive your complete payment-card information. Development and testing versions of ReadResults may use test or sandbox purchase environments rather than live App Store transactions.
Advertising
The current iOS release configuration does not include the Google Mobile Ads SDK, and the app does not request or display advertisements. If advertising is introduced, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will need to reflect the resulting data practices.
Diagnostics and development testing
Developer builds can record recognized text, local image references, and technical scan information in diagnostic logs and export scan audits to the developer’s local development server. These developer scan-audit paths are disabled in release builds, including TestFlight. Release error messages omit scan-image references and detailed error objects, and the app filters raw RevenueCat SDK log messages. This does not mean that all operating-system or third-party diagnostics are disabled. Development builds may also test alternate on-device OCR providers; the release configuration selects Apple Vision.
Recently Deleted and data retention
Scans remain in your History until you delete them or remove the app, subject to the storage behavior of your device. When you delete a scan from History, ReadResults moves it to Recently Deleted. Recently Deleted uses a 30-day retention period measured from a scan’s recorded deletion time. You may also permanently delete individual scans, delete selected scans, or empty Recently Deleted sooner. When ReadResults identifies a Recently Deleted scan that has reached the 30-day retention period, the scan record is removed from Recently Deleted and ReadResults attempts to delete its associated app-owned image file if no remaining scan references it. Expiration cleanup occurs when Recently Deleted is loaded. Cleanup is not background-scheduled and does not run on ordinary History reads; expired data may remain on the device until Recently Deleted is loaded again. Scans without a valid deletion date are retained rather than deleted using a guessed date. Restoring a scan requires room in History. Deleting scans from ReadResults does not cancel an App Store subscription or erase purchase and transaction records maintained by Apple or RevenueCat for subscription management.
Your choices and controls
You control whether ReadResults can access your camera through iOS Settings. You can delete individual scans from History, restore eligible scans from Recently Deleted, or permanently delete scans before their Recently Deleted retention period expires. You can choose whether to copy or share recognized text or images. ReadResults does not maintain a ReadResults cloud account containing your scan history and therefore cannot remotely retrieve or delete scan content stored only within the app on your device. ReadResults Pro subscriptions can be managed through Apple's subscription-management features.
Security
ReadResults is designed to keep captured images, recognized text, scan history, and app preferences within the app's local storage except when you explicitly use a sharing feature or when information is processed by a third-party service described in this policy for its stated purpose. No method of electronic storage or processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure. ReadResults uses the platform and application storage mechanisms needed to provide its features.
Children
ReadResults is designed as a general readability utility and is not directed to children under 13. ReadResults does not provide social networking, user accounts, or a ReadResults cloud service for storing scan history.
Third-party services
ReadResults currently relies on third-party technologies for specific functions described in this policy, including Apple for iOS platform functionality, App Store purchases, and subscription payment processing; and RevenueCat for ReadResults Pro purchase and subscription management. Information processed by a third-party service is also subject to that provider's applicable privacy and security practices. ReadResults does not sell your captured images or recognized scan text.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when ReadResults features, third-party services, or data practices change. When we make material changes, we will update the policy and its review or effective date as appropriate. We will also update ReadResults' App Store privacy disclosures when changes to the app's data practices require it.
